Welcome! I am a PhD student in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia. My work combines tools from political behavior, political economy, and urban studies.
My research interest lies in the micro-foundations of enduring political support in Latin America. I am interested in understanding why some subnational party systems consolidate, while national parties in the same territories seem to lack any consistency or widespread partisan attachments.
I was raised in Otavalo, a small and multicultural town in Ecuador. I earned my BA in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris, and I hold a reserch master’s degree in Political Sociology from FLACSO, Ecuador. Prior to pursuing my PhD, I worked as methodological coordinator for a renowned polling company in Ecuador and served for two years as Executive Director of the Research Institute of the City, Quito.
Now, my heart has found its place in Brazil. After earning my PhD, my dream is to return to Latin America and teach at a university close to the sea.
